Family Village: A Global Community of Disability-Related Resources. Web site maintained by the Waisman Center at the University of Wisconsin that offers information categorized under 12 general menu options and opportunities to chat with other parents. Menu options are Library, Coffee Shop, Hospital, Shopping Mall, Post Office, House of Worship, School, Sports and Recreation, Community Center, Bookstore, University and Information.

The Learning Disabilities Association offers several resources for families including a comprehensive “Fact Sheets” section. Among the fact sheets offered are Central Auditory Processing Problems in Children, Dyslexia and Early Identification of Speech and Language Disorders.

The Lifelong Services Team, a unit within VESID’s Program Development and Support Services, administers the components of the Network from VESID. The Team is charged with improving outcomes for children, students and adults with disabilities by increasing coordination, communication and cooperation between members of the Network.

Contact with the Network can be made either through the Regional Facilitators representing LSN throughout the State or directly with local network members. We invite you to contact your local LSN members with questions concerning how they can help you.

Network members provide a variety of services for parents, school professionals and parents.

National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities. Information and referral center for those involved with children disabilities, ages birth to 22. Special features include state resource sheets, other disability clearinghouses, and publications in Spanish.

The Technical Assistance Alliance for Parent Centers is an innovative project that supports a unified technical assistance system for the purpose of developing, assisting and coordinating Parent Training and Information Projects and Community Parent Resource Centers under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This project is funded by the S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs and consists of 1 national center and 6 regional centers. The project is funded to strengthen the connections to the larger technical assistance network and fortify partnerships between parent centers and state education systems at regional and national levels.
