  • Adapting Classrooms for AT Users: Challenges and Solution
    This program provides an overview of ways to accommodate children with disabilities in educational tings. Particular areas of focus are:
    • partial participation: allowing students with disabilities to be actively involved in all activities done by their peers, even if the disabilities prevent participation in all aspects of those activities
    • configuring the classroom and other school environments to accommodate students with disabilities
    • making classroom materials accessible to all student via a variety of low-tech and high-tech adaptations

    This multimedia program is presented by a panel of speakers with differing perspectives on the topic. The panel discussion is supplemented by text, photographs, video clips, software demonstrations, and a live interview with a student who has benefited from all of the strategies discussed in the program.

    This program provides an overview of ways to accommodate employees with disabilities in employment tings. Particular areas of focus are:
    • the importance of assistive technology in permitting employees with disabilities to function effectively on the job
    • the barriers to success in obtaining and using assistive technology in the workplace
    • examples of functional problems encountered by employees and some of the adaptations that may solve those problems

    This multimedia program is presented by a panel of speakers with differing perspectives on the topic. The panel discussion is supplemented by text, photographs, and video interviews with employees who have benefited from using assistive technology in their day to day work lives.
