Webcast Technical Information
Topics: Browser Compatibility | Adobe Flash Player | Internet Connection Speeds | Webcast Archive
Getting started
To successfully view the webcasts, your computer must have:
We recommend signing-on to a live webcast 30 minutes before the program begins to determine if your computer meets the webcast's technical requirements.
1. Browser Compatibility
Any recent browser can be used to view our webcast series. We recommend the newest version available for a browser be used.
2. Adobe Flash Player
RealPlayer is required to view the webcasts. You can download a free version of Flash Player on the Adobe website (www.adobe.com). The newest version of Flash Player is recommended.
4. Internet Connection Speeds
Our webcasts will work with any connection speed. However, users of 28.8k modems will experience long download and buffering times. They may also experience delays in our program for minutes at a time. 56k users will experience similar, but less severe delays. This is caused by the speed at which you are connecting to the Internet. We highly recommend the use of a cable, DSL, T1 or other high-speed connection if they are available. If you must connect via a slower dial-up service, you may want to view the webcasts after they have been added to our archive. The videos in the archive should download quicker because they are not streaming from our server and because there will be less user traffic on the archive pages compared with the user traffic during the live webcast.
5. Webcast Archive
Ideally, we would like to post our archived webcasts immediately after they have been recorded. We know that these programs provide valuable information on assistive technology. We are constantly working to improve the presentation, interactivity, and accessibility of this information. We will post an archived version of the webcasts within one week of the original webcast.
If you have any questions regarding the availability of these programs in an archived form please email sfeuer@abilitiesonline.org. If you have any technical questions please contact Nabil Ejaz by email at pkurtz@abilitiesonline.org or by phone at 516/465-1431.
