Learning Outcomes

On completion of the program, participants will be able to

  • state and refute two common misconceptions about accommodating people with disabilities in employment settings
  • give two examples of technology that is routinely used in employment settings that functions as assistive technology for an employee with a disability
  • identify at least one intervention to assist an employee with each of the following functional limitations at a computer workstation:
    • use of only one hand for typing
    • restricted visual field
    • upper extremity mobility limitations impairs use of standard mouse
    • types hands-free using a head wand
    • types hands-free using another method
  • discuss at least two reasons for obtaining an individual assessment for an employee requiring assistive technology interventions.
