Mitsui USA Career Readiness & Testing Center

Mitsui USA Foundation has recently awarded Abilities Inc. with a $60,000 grant to establish a Career Readiness and Testing Center in our Albertson, NY headquarters.  The Mitsui USA Career Readiness & Testing Center will be a multi-purpose computer lab which will provide training in computers and software.  Trainees will become proficient in submitting on-line applications and passing the skill exams used in making hiring decisions.

Currently, Abilities, Inc. has a limited number of computer based skill tests used by companies.  In some instances, the exams are proprietary and in other instances the licensing and multiple use fees have exceeded our financial resources.  Support from the Mitsui USA Foundation will enable us to purchase additional employment tests for assessing skills in Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook and Access.  We will be able to determine the need and type of accommodation a job seeker with a disability might require in order to successfully pass the test.  Funding from the Mitsui USA Foundation will also be used to hire a part time classroom aide to assist students working on individual projects.
